FAQ
The questions a format Discord asks every day, answered once, dated, and updated through the change log like everything else.
Is Prophet of Kruphix legal?
Yes. It is the one exemption from the official Commander banned list baseline: it was banned for what it does to a four-player table, and this format seats two. The full reasoning is on the banlist page.
Is Magus of the Moon legal? Blood Moon is banned.
Legal, for now. So is Harbinger of the Seas. Whether the effect should be treated consistently is exactly the kind of question we put to a ballot, and both are on the ballot for the October window.
Why 30 life?
It keeps games explosive without being as punishing as 20-life 1v1. Whether it is the right number is an open question we take seriously, which is why a confirmation ballot is live on the vote page.
Is it best-of-one or best-of-three?
Undecided, and listed under openly undecided on the rules page, which is where undecided things belong. The structure for the first official tournament in Denver publishes with its full details on the events page.
Do I get to see vote results?
Yes, the moment a ballot closes: the full tally and the complete named record publish at once. While voting is open, tallies are sealed and only participation counts show, so nobody votes against a scoreboard. Your own vote is always visible to you.
What stops one person voting twice?
Accounts are Discord identities, one vote per account per ballot, votes changeable until close with every change logged. IPs are recorded on each vote for ballot-stuffing review and are never published.
Who runs this site?
The Caliente Commander organizing body. This is the official Cali Commander website: the votes, the lists, the events, and the records all live here.
Wait, Caliente Commander?
The official name is Caliente Commander. The official abbreviation is Cali Commander. The logo may offer additional context.
Is my deck legal?
If every card clears the banlist page and your commander is not banned as a commander, yes. The watch list does not affect legality.
